When somebody sees a person with beautiful striking white teeth they automatically assume that person is healthy, happy and well kept. This is a view that we would all like others to have of us, and there are some extremely simple ways to help ourselves to achieving that pristine look, by using a teeth whitening kit.

Teeth whitening kits can come in many forms, with the main types being gel, toothpaste and a full gum kit. The latter is more likely to actually improvement the whiteness levels, while the others are sometimes only effective at eradicating stains on the enamel.

The very cheapest options available to us are the whitening toothpaste products. Many of the leading brands of toothpastes have developed a whitening range of their own and very often cost only slightly over the average price.

Teeth whitening kits have become so very wideley available over the years that everyone has the ability to purchase one, at a price to suit. Prices can range from hundreds of dollars, to only a few and it is doubtful that the quality or effect ranges quite so much. The way they are used usually is by filling the inside of a special gum shield with a provided gel whitening substance. This is then placed into the mouth for anything from half an hour to a few hours overnight, depending on the kit you have chosen.

Some issues that effect long-term users of teeth whitening products have reported that because of the prolonged use, their teeth have been extremely sensitive to hot and cold conditions and they have to drink through a straw, so as not to give pain to their teeth. The abrasive agents in the kits are very damaging to the enamel so are best used sparsely.

Going down the option of having your teeth whitened by a dentist is a much more expensive but also more effective option. Dentists use whitening kits with far higher levels of the whitening agent called hydrogen peroxide to give lightening quick results.
